A small entrance prorch in West looe which had damp and flaking paint issues. (first four pictures)

The damp had caused mold and peeling on the paint and the old wall paper. The area was cleaned and paper re-glued. Then an application of Zinsser Cover Stain- an excellent primer/sealer to the walls and woodwork. After that McPherson Durable matt in Victorian Eclectic No.1 was applied. Ceiling re-painted in White Durable Matt; wood work in Satin including door which i didn’t photograph..

Durable matt is a good choice in high traffic or mositure areas as it is highly wipeableso easy to clean.( last 2 pictures)

The next Exterior paint after the one below was in the centre of Plymouth.  An unpainted pebble dash HMO. The property had an exterior yard and outer section on a side road with garage. The chosen colour was Plymouth Grey. The property was jetwash down with an anti mould solution to remove dirt and algae.

The pebble was first sprayed with a stabilising solution followed by several mist coats then subsequent coats increasing in thickness. The rear door to the yard was cracked and flaking so the paint was removed entirely aon the outer and the whole door cleaned and re-sprayed with a primer sealer before the top-coats.

The inner yard once painted had its unattended windows and UPVC cleaned with a special solvent solution which restored them to almost new looking.

Currently painting another larger semi in Plymouth. Here are the before photos from my survey. I like to look at a job and take photos for reference.

Scaffold was required due to access and severe heights not recommended on a ladder. The paint of choice was Dulux Weathershield for the white and black areas. The fences will be sprayed with Ronseal Red Cedar. The pink areas are the tinted clear Undercoat.

I will take more photos once complete and the scaffold is down. The owner has had new bay windows installed which compliments the fresh white paint.

Exterior Spraying of a property in Crownhill. Paint was Johnstone Stormshield. I was assisting a Fellow painter Cody from Topcoat Decorators of Plymouth.

I think you will agree the final paint looks great. Scaffolding is common these days as Health and Safety can fine Trades for being too high up a ladder but DIY owners can use them.

You can see the cutting in stage over the old colour. Spraying equipment was by Graco which both of us use. A 612 paint tip was used to put out plenty of paint and the house took 60 litres to paint.( plus white accents)

Scaffold use often dictates a return visit for touch-ups where the scaffolding tubes and boards either touch the building or are to tight to paint. The tell-tale signs are round ‘dots’ of old colour or horizontal patches where the running boards were.

An easy fix.

Kitchen re-fit in Callington by Matt at SC Kitchens and Team. I was called in to re-spray the room once re-plastered. THe paint of choice was Dulux Trade Fast Matt in white. The door frames and window sill were glossed with Bedec White Gloss. The owners were very happy with the paint and the kitchen looks amazing. I will add some final pics once the Clients have finished moving back in to the Kitchen but you can see what a lovely install Matt has done .

Furniture Respraying in St Annes Cottage. The furniture was an Oak effect finish and the owners chose colours by Farrow and Ball and Little Greene paints. There were six pieces of furniture and a fireplace surround to paint. New metal-ware was added to the Display Unit. I will spare you the in progress shots. Customers were very happy.

Barn Re-Spray in St Neot. The owner had spent alot of money restoring the former stables which looked great once sprayed. Material was traditional Creosote. The Barn measured approximately 15M by 5 M. Large structure.

Refreshing 7 doors and skirting with new white satin. The originals had been left to go yellow indicting an oil base paint. Oil yellows over time where the new water based ones do not.

Zinsser Bullseye was used to prime and seal before the Satin topcoat was applied. Sprayed with a Graco Ultra and a 310 tip.

The areas were fully masked and floor protection laid. The area was hoovered and items placed back for the final finish.

A small flat suffering from Black Mould in corners and along edges.

Being  lounge kitchen, the high moisture can cause mould growth which can be harmful to your health. The entire area was masked from floor to coving. Then Zinsser Perma-white was sprayed followed once dry by Dulux Fast Matt.

The result is a clean fresh looking kitchen and lounge free of mould.  The customer said it felt like new. Always nice to make a difference to someone.

A small bedroom repaint in Moonlit Sky by Johnsons. Sprayed airlessly. Then on to the joinery in the hallway. All undercaoted in Zinsser Bullseye Plus and Johnsons Satinwood.A nice refresh for a couple of tired areas. Client is very happy and enjoying her bright new look space.

Large exterior job, a few miles away. The property had been fully re-rendered in a Lime mix. This required a specialist paint.

Emperor Paints was chosen and their EARTHBORNE range used. Colour choice was Emperor Light Grey. The Earthborne paints are breathable and allow moisture to evaporate, Emperor state that this makes the property much warmer due to moisture not acting like a Fridge as with other properties.

The property was primed first using their Primer which was like a milky liquid. This was sprayed on using the Graco 390 cordless, allowing me to move around the scaffold and lower levels.  The First coat of Light Grey was diluted 10% as per instruction from Emperor. This was sprayed before the final pure undiluted coat was applied. A nice colour I think. Suits the property well.

This was a fun and challenging job using alot of materials but the results speak for themselves.

From right to left of screen;- Initial visit and photo,  some of the masking process used, primer coat applied, first coats and finally the top coat.

 Consevatory Re-Vamp.

Lovely little conservatory with a Sunny aspect. Needed updating and some repairs which you can see on the right of screen. Once a paint colour was chosen it was applied giving a soft uplift and serenity to the space. Lighting was chosen and replaced the dated Candlabra style of the previous.  Customer was very happy and is now enjoying Her new space.

Small Shower Room
This time of year can be cold and damp so the areas in your Home that get Mould and damp need attention. There are many specialist paints out there to assist in this and Osullivan Decorating can help.
Give me a call if you have a problem and need help.

From left to right; finished shower room in LOOE- refreshed and Mould removed. Paint was Zinzer Permawhite . Next photos show the wall rebuild due to bad corners from DIY plastering. Last picture is the Mould growth and paint flake due to moisture not being vented .

Period Sitting Room

A lovely House in Plymouth with bay windows and period features. Originally a light grey, the owner went for a bold change. Works well with the vaulted ceilings and picture wall- would be too oppressive in a smaller home. The wood shutters really set of the finished look.

    Modern Split Level Hallway

Hallway repaint and refresh in Downderry. Split over three levels with a lot of woodwork so challenging to do by hand and solo. Nice end result, Heritage Paints and Dulux Fast Matt. Customer happy and gave a 5 Star review.

UPDATE;  27TH FEB 2023- I returned to the property at the request of the Customer. Go to the Video section to see the Bannister being re-sprayed in a Varnish for more durability. Graco 390 Airless Spraying and Dulux Hard Wearing Satin Varnish. That should stop rogue shopping bags…..

High Value project in Downderry.

Lovely renovation with stunning views out to sea, Looe and Rame Head. This is the kitchen area and dining space. The beam was painted black once the emulsion fixes were complete.

As is popular these days around Cornwall, White was the colour of choice. It really shows off the dimensions of the Space.

The property featured several levels and the popular ‘up-side down’ design.  3 bedrooms downstairs and a Master above the living area.

  Bungalow in Duloe.

The lounge was as you see it here. Client wanted Farrow and Ball Caulk Green and Magnolia to replace the Greys.

A few days later with the furniture in place, the radiant green of Farrow and Ball working nicely with white gloss and the stone. The stone was orangey in color so worked well as a compliment to the green.

The Magnolia was Dulux. I always choose the best paints. Store bought paints tend to be watered down versions of Trade Paint which has more solids and pigment. The result is a more solid color. Don’t skimp on paint is my advice.

MOD house in Plymouth.

A large 3 Bed Detched property that hadnt been decorated for some years.

Paint wise it is another good quality brand in Crown Obliterating Matt. A paint that gives good solid coverage.

With the magnolia on and ceiling painted, you can see a little tip here- slightly over-cut your white on to any deeper color. It’s easier to paint on when cutting in than the other way round.

The right-hand side of this Master Bedroom. Skirting has been undercoated. The white stands out nicely from the solid Matt walls.

This was a nice property to paint with good proportions.

 Barn Conversion

Upper level. This time in another Brand; Valspar, an American make, which is regarded well. As it contains a Bathroom, the paint i used was Vinyl Silk. The entire property was in an English White.  Lovely views over the river and Plymouth.

A lovely choice of Marble to off-set the white and the Beams.

Once fully installed, the bathroom will look stunning.  Valspar is a nice paint to use. Available from B@Q should you wish to try it .

Modern House St. Martin’s

Fence that hadn’t been treated since the House was built in 2020.

Ronseal Harvest Gold was the paint of choice, applied with brush and roller.

As you can see, a marked difference to the Fence and the look of the Property. This was quite an intensive job, but the weather was nice so very enjoyable to do. The Client was happy.

The gate area was masked with appropriate masking, and this was the result once removed. Sharp and clean. I think you’ll agree, the garden really pops along with the white walls and the Autumn Gold.

Site Work for Persimmon in Liskeard.

4 Bed house was large and had lots of rooms and bathrooms. The paint was Dulux Trade. Possibly the best white you can buy in my opinion and a joy to use.

No need to thin if you don’t want to and will paint on to new plaster like it was old plaster.  Some water is advisable but, in this case, no more than 10 percent.

Entrance to upper Master Bedroom. En-Suite and all rooms painted in the Dulux as well as through-out.

On Commercial sites, no masking is used at all and all cutting in is by hand.

You can see other pictures from this build across the website on other pages such as the bannisters, kitchen and such.

Fully painted Living Room awaiting carpets. Skirting and Bannisters in Dulux High Gloss.

Gloss is useful in that you can wipe off over spills in Matt with a cloth and water once it has fully cured.

West Looe- Exterior re-paint and minor repairs.

The property has a small section of ‘blown’ render which was fixed with SBR and Render repair. Some properties can have far worse- in which case it is advisable to call in a Plasterer or Builder to stabilise the Render. This makes decorating and the finish far nicer.

The property finished in Dulux Weathershield Magnolia. Gone is the old yellow and in comes the cleaner look. This was painted in time for the Jubilee Celebrations in Looe.

A tower was required to reach the Gable End. It was pretty high! But worth the trouble and made the client happy.

Chapel Ground, West Looe. 3 bedroom.

I have lots of photos of this 3-bedroom House in West Looe. It was vacant and used as a Holiday home prior to the Client moving to the area. It was largely sprayed with Airless Spraying which is great at giving a smooth finish. Some areas were then rolled and finished by hand.

You can see the before photo for the kitchen and the difference when a quality paint like the Dulux is applied. Sharp, clean and modernised.

All three bedrooms and the hall were given the same care and finish.  Cracks were meshed and filled to be invisible.  You might not believe it but the wall by the radiator was crumbling and very obvious. I rebuilt it then sprayed it in. Took a few days but the hallway ended up looking very presentable after.  The Client was very happy and lives there now.
